I shot Seema and Will’s weddings last month. There were two weddings to photograph (as well as a pre wedding party the day before the big temple wedding took place) so I got to know everyone really quite well by the end of things.
The images in this post are my favourites from the largest of the two weddings which took place at the seriously impressive Sikh temple in Gravesend, Kent.
350+ people came which is by no means a large number for Sikh weddings as they can often have 500 or more friends and family members present.
The temple itself is the largest of its kind anywhere in the world outside of India and, needless to say, I was really excited to be given the opportunity to shoot there and to be able to incorporate some of the amazing architecture in the photographs.
I learn something new every time I shoot a wedding and this wedding was, without doubt, no exception to that rule. There is always a photographic development as I push myself but, on top of that, this wedding introduced me to many new cultural nuances of the Sikh religion and I have even learned a couple of Sikh words which will come in very handy next time around!
Enjoy!
